Shrewsbury and Atcham Selection Committee Training

2.29.02pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 13th Aug 2004

Last night Tracey O'Brien and I trained Shrewsbury and Atcham Local Party's Selection Committee. As a result of Liberal Democrat MP Paul Marsden announcing he will not be re-standing at the next General Election, Shrewsbury Liberal Democrats will now be selecting a new candidate.

The Selection Committee is the Committee that selects a short-list from all the applicants to present to the full membership of the Local Party. The Local Party then selects the one candidate who will then fight the seat at the General Election.

I previously worked in Shrewsbury and Atcham and know that the Liberal Democrats can win the seat at the General Election. I wish them every success in selecting the best candidate for the seat.

This is the third Selection Committee Training that I have trained in the West Midlands Region this year. Every Local Party must have two Selection Committee trained people on their Selection Committee.
