The Liberal Democrats also re-affirmed their commitment to the UK increasing its international aid to 0.7% of Gross National Product. This is an issues very close to my heart, having travelled in southern Africa, south and central America, I am deeply committed to trying to help people in some of the poorest parts of the world out of poverty and also try to ensure they have access to medicines and clean water.

The Liberal Democrats have also been very good on international aid and development and is probably one of the reasons that I joined the party. I have to say Gordon Brown has also been very good on these issues and hopefully when the UK has the presidency of the G8 the Government can try and push other country's on these issues.
