The greenest party?

6.00.00pm GMT Tue 21st Sep 2004

This morning Liberal Democrat Conference concentrated on the environment. There were policy discussions on transport and making it more environmentally friendly and how we can make markets (business) work for the environment. Conference was also addressed by Jonathan Porritt the Programme Director of Forum for the Future and chairman of the UK Sustainable Development Commission. The Liberal Democrats have been the 'greenest' of the main political parties for a long time and their commitments to environmentalism was one of the reasons I joined the party as I believe it is one of the most important policy areas.

I have a friend in the Green Party and every time I see him, and the next time will be Saturday, we disagree whose party is better and even which is the 'greenest'. We also ask each other to join our parties, the one thing we agree on is that we should be in the same party! So how about it Rik, are you going to join the Liberal Democrats?
