The Motorcycle Diaries (Los Diarios de Motocicleta) - A recommendation

11.08.50am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 5th Oct 2004

Last night I went to see the Motorcycle Diaries at Wolverhampton's Lighthouse cinema. The Motorcycle Diaries, for those that do not know, is based on the travels of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara and Alberto Granado across South America. Che Guevara, of course, became a leading revolutionary in Cuba, Africa and South America and you can see his political awaking in the film.

I read the Motorcycle Diaries whilst travelling in South America and have visited a number of the locations, so the film brought back a number of memories. It will be interesting to see if more films are made about the rest of Che's life.

If you intend to see the film, it probably only fair to warn you it is in Spanish with English subtitles.
