Green Party Conference

9.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 20th Oct 2004

Today sees the start of the Green Party's Conference in Weston-super-Mare, I was invited by my friend Rik to attend as an observer and was very tempted but it will be impossible to get there with other commitments I have this weekend. I think it would have been interesting to see another political parties conference and hope to be able to go another year.

I do have a soft spot for the Greens and as I have previously said Rik and I often suggest we should be in each other's parties. My first vote I cast, in the Local Elections in 1994, was for the Green Party and I first met Rik in 1998 at a Youth Council of the Isles meeting in Dublin. The Youth Council of the Isles brought together representatives from the youth wings of the political parties that operate in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to discuss issues concerning Northern Ireland and the peace process.
