Blair vs. Brown in world poverty stakes

2.44.42pm GMT Thu 6th Jan 2005

Both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown have today called for the huge international effort to help the victims of the Asian tsunami to be expanded into a programme to eradicate world poverty. However it is being viewed by some political commentators that Blair and Brown are in fact trying to outdo each other in being more proactive in debt relief and poverty reduction.

To be honest I don't really care which one of them gets to take the credit just so long as they mean what they say and deliver on the debt relief and poverty reduction, especially in this year of the UK Chairing both the G8, and later in the year, the European Union.
