Following on form the publication of the UN's 'Investing in Development: A Practical Plan to Achieve the Millennium Development Goals' report earlier this week the Guardian has published a list of who gave what in 2003 and also the top ten recipients of UK aid. It makes very interesting reading.

In 2003 the UK gave $6,282million or 0.34% of GNI compared to Norway (who topped the list) who gave 0.92% and the USA (who were bottom) who gave 0.15% The UK was beaten by Norway, Denmark, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, France, Ireland, Switzerland and Finland in percentage of GNI.

In terms of where the aid goes to India received £346million form the UK, Serbia and Montenegro $237million, Tanzania $208million, Bangladesh $188million, Ghana $130million, Afghanistan $115million, Pakistan $106million, Iraq $97million, Uganda £94million and South Africa £87million.
