Kyoto comes into force

8.26.43pm GMT Wed 16th Feb 2005

The Kyoto Treaty came into force today, sadly the USA have not signed up, but lets hope the rest of the world takes it seriously. Today has also seen thermal imaging of various state buildings in London showing how bad they are at conserving energy, wasting not only energy but also our - the taxpayers - money! If Government want to take the environment seriously they need to start Buckingham Palace and the the House of Commons/Lords.

Global Emission Trading, that has also started, excludes aviation emissions which seems to be odd. The whole aviation industry seems to be treated rather strangely when it comes to pollution - aviation fuel is not taxed for example - this is one anomaly that should be corrected straight away.
