Solihull campaigning and Hodge Hill planning

11.00.00pm GMT Fri 25th Feb 2005

Today has been a busy day, I was off work using up leave, this morning I went over to Solihull as they have a by-election next Thursday in St. Alphege ward and then went to a Birmingham Hodge Hill planning meeting.

In Solihull I talked with our Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Lorely Bury about the last week of the campaign and also bits for the General Election as I will be partly helping out in Solihull. After our brief chat we went out and knocked on a few doors trying to identify people's voting intention. Locally the Conservatives have decided to sell off parkland (after firstly denying it!) and it has had a very big impact on the doors, former Conservative voters are switching to the Liberal Democrats in droves - this could be very close in one of the Conservatives safest seats in Solihull!

In the evening I met with the West Midlands Regional Campaigns Officer - Ben Jephcott, Hodge Hill's Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Nicola Davies and her Prospective Agent Dave Radcliffe to talk through their campaign plan. Hodge Hill, is of course, where we had an extremely close by-election back in July and could take at the General Election. All is going well and the plan drawn up last year is being delivered and Nicola is still working hard there and it could again be very close at the General Election.
