Wolverhampton South West Pensioners Convention Question Time

6.39.46pm GMT Fri 18th Mar 2005

This morning I took part in the Wolverhampton South West Pensioners Convention Question Time. I was joined by Rob Marris the sitting Labour MP and Sandip Verma the Conservative Candidate. There were almost seventy pensioners present, we were given ten minutes to speak followed by questions from the floor.

I think it went well with a number of people coming up to me after saying they now plan to vote Liberal Democrat. The three candidates agreed on a number of issues, the one were we disagreed the most was on Council Tax, the Liberal Democrats want to abolish the tax and replace it with a fairer form of taxation - Local Income Tax and the other parties just want to tinker with it - amazingly the Conservative candidate managed to get the party policy wrong!

There will be many more question times before election day with various organisations and I am really looking forward to them.
