West Midlands Liberal Democrat Conference - a success

7.00.00pm GMT Sat 19th Mar 2005

Today over 100 members of the Liberal Democrats attended the West Midlands Regional Conference in Birmingham. I ran two training sessions and a drop-in session.

The sessions were on Liberal Democrats under attack, Being an Agent in the Elections and a drop-in session on Agent queries. They went well and I think as the two training sessions were all conference training, as opposed to break-out sessions far more people experienced training at Conference than ever before.

The conference was also addressed by four MPs - Paul Keetch, Matthew Green, Party President Simon Hughes and Home Affairs spokesperson Mark Oaten as well as the West Midlands Liberal Democrat MEP Liz Lynne.

As well as the various speeches and training session the Conference also passed a motion deploring the Labour and Conservatives abuse of the Telephone Preference Service by calling TPS registered phone numbers. The Liberal Democrats have launched a website - www.stopnuisancecalls.com to help anyone who is being pestered by nuisance callers.
