ELDR Council Meeting

5.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sun 15th May 2005

Yesterday I attended the ELDR (European Liberal Democrats)Council meeting in Sofia, it followed on from the Liberal International Congress. I was elected to the ELDR Council by the Liberal Democrats at the end of last year.

This Council meeting was my first, and I found it an interesting and useful insight to some of the mechanics of the ELDR. We had the Prime Minister of Bulgaria (who is also the King!) address us and had a couple of discussions one around Liberalism in multi-cultural society.

Also, although it was my first Council meeting (and there was well over a hundred Council members), I spoke on one of the proposed amendments. Afterwards the Foreign Minister of Andorra found me to tell me I spoke extremely well, which was a very good thing to hear.
