Back to Basics - The West Midlands Liberal Democrats Summer Training Programme2.20.47pm GMT Fri 10th Jun 2005
Due to popular request the main thrust of the Summer Training Programme is a Back to Basics campaigning skills programme. There will, of course, be many bespoke events for any Local Parties and also on a regional/sub-regional scale. The Back to Basics Programme will hopefully be run in each County and a couple of times in the Metropolitan areas. The Back to Basics programme will be aimed at newer members to learn the basic campaigning skills and existing members to brush up on skills. The Back to Basics programme will consist of four main modules, which can all be run on the same day, but less can be run to spend more time on each. Module One - Canvassing and EARS - What data do we want, how do we get it and what do we do with it and use it for. Module Two - Communication - Literature (Focus and Surveys etc) - What makes good literature and how best to produce it. Working the media - What makes a good news release. Module Three - Building a Winning Team and ensuring it stays together - Membership recruitment, retention, members newsletters, social events and fundraising. Module Four - Agenting/Organising and Staying Legal - The basic role of an Agent/Organiser and how to avoid any legal pitfalls.
