Polls open in South Staffordshire General Election re-run4.50.31pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 23rd Jun 2005
The last part of the 2005 General Election is taking place today in South Staffordshire. The election was deferred from May due to the sad death of the Liberal Democrat candidate Jo Harrison. I have been over to help a couple of times and hope to go over after work today to help out. The Liberal Democrat candidate is Dr. Jo Crotty. Jo is a fantastic candidate but I expect Sir. Patrick Cormack to be re-elected (he did get 51% at the last General Election!). Jo has been campaigning against the Council Tax Bombshell of revaluation and for a fairer form of local taxation. Jo has also been campaign against any expansion to the airport and against the proposed Western orbital motorway. Jo has also been campaigning for more police and free personal care.
