Cheadle by-election to be called5.00.00pm GMT Wed 22nd Jun 2005
The Cheadle by-election will be called tomorrow by Andrew Stunell, the Liberal Democrat Chief Whip in the House of Commons. This will mean the by-election will take place on 14 July. The by-election is a result of Patsy Calton's sad death following her battles with cancer. Patsy was a great MP and great mother to my friend Libby. I will certainly be going up to help at some point. Mark Hunter will be the Liberal Democrat candidate. The Liberal Democrats won Cheadle in 2001 by just 33 votes, which Patsy and her team increased to over 4,000 just a few weeks ago. Cheadle Liberal Democrats need all the help they can get - you an help in many ways: Financially - Cheques can be sent payable to the "Liberal Democrat Campaign Fund" (Please address envelopes to Chris Rennard, Cheadle by-election appeal, 4 Cowley Street, London, SW1P 3NB) and he will make sure that it is spent to maximum effect on the Cheadle by-election. In person - The HQ is open 9am - 9pm, 7 days a week at Tudor House, Woodford Road, Stockport, SK7 2DG, 5 minutes from Bramhall station. On the phone - You can also help with telephone canvassing by emailing s.morris@libdems.org.uk
