This evening I attended the Wolverhampton Liberal Democrat Executive. As well as the normal business there were two items of interest - The next General Election and the position of Chair.

It was agreed to start the selection process for the next General Election as soon as possible - this in effect means selecting early next year. Under the rules the candidates from May stay in post until 31 December, from 1 January the local party are free to select a new candidate. Selecting early brings a number of benefits - the main one enabling the candidate longer to get established and build up a profile - something I wish I had the opportunity to do.

Also the meeting passed a motion of no confidence in David Jack as Chair of Wolverhampton Liberal Democrats, for reasons I will not go into on here, and Sandra Terry is now Acting Chair until the AGM.
