Mo Mowlam has died

3.31.34pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 19th Aug 2005

Mo Mowlam died earlier today, after battling cancer and then a brain tumour. Mo was MP for Redcar between 1987 and 2001 and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in the first Labour Government presiding over the Good Friday Agreement.

Mo is a great lose to the UK, politics and the Labour Party - especially after the recent death of Robin Cook. Mo was a fantastic politician and by all accounts very down to earth taking her wig off when trying to talk with convicted terrorists to make a point!

The best way for Mo to be remembered would be lasting peace in Northern Ireland, lets hope it can be achieved!
