Talk about organ donation!

Have you signed up yet to become an Organ Donor?

A new BBC survey suggests that the overwhelming majority of people back organ donation, but 51% have never discussed the issue with loved ones. I have signed up to donate all the organs I can when I died and all of my family know, if you have signed up make sure your family know - if they don't your organs may not be donated!

The poll also showed that 60% of people believe there should be a change in the law to an opt-out system. I have been pushing for this for a number of years since working for the Liberal Democrats in Hereford when I did some research before Paddy Ashdown's visit during the General Election (2001) to the eye hospital. A change to an opt-out system would mean that everyone would automatically be considered a potential donor unless they have specifically registered that they do not wish to be.
