The Membership Fee debate

8.04.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sun 18th Sep 2005

Today saw one of the most important debates at conference, It was very important internally but not too exciting externally, it was the debate discussing membership fees. The proposal was the raise the minimum from £5 to £12 (and from £3 to £6 for LDYS members), the original proposal was defeated but a modest increase to £6 (and £4) was passed.

I would have preferred us to keep to the original figures as I think psychologically it sounds far less and also makes it easier for people to join. However I can live with the increase. The increase comes into force from 1 January 2006 so there is still time to join up for £5, but only if you are quick!
