Labour Party Conference starts

1.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sun 25th Sep 2005

As soon as the Liberal Democrat Conference ends Labour's begins. Labour are in Brighton and their conference starts today with tributes to Lord Callaghan, Mo Mowlam and Robin Cook - Labour have had a very bad year with three of their most popular politicians having passed away.

The rest of the week will, I suspect, see the start of the Blair-Brown transition, how smoothly it goes will be the interesting bit to watch. Highlights will be Brown and Blair's speeches and the other spokesperson. Having briefly scanned the Agenda on the Guardian's website I can't seem to see any policy motions - they cannot have got rid of them entirely could they?
