Is it fair Mr. Marris?3.07.04pm GMT Wed 9th Nov 2005
Wolverhampton South West's Labour MP Rob Marris has presented a petition to Parliament against Council Tax increases from the Isitfair campaign. The Liberal Democrats believe Council Tax is unfair and should be replaced with a fairer form of taxation based on people's income. Mr. Marris has voted in Parliament in favour of Council Tax rather than a fair form of taxation as his actions may suggest! Mr. Marris voted last year in a division (division 51) in the House of Commons against the following text: "That this House believes council tax is unfair, should not have been introduced and should be replaced by a system that reflects people's ability to pay." This is not the first time Mr. Marris words and deeds have not been reflected in his voting in the House of Commons - surely we deserve some explanation.
