English Council

Today the Liberal Democrat's English Council met. I sit on the English Council as one of the West Midlands representatives, it is the body that runs the Party in England. Today's agenda was one of the best for a number of years with discussion on membership rules, voting entitlement and rules for selecting Parliamentary Candidates.

The debates were of a very high quality and we took some very tough choices, I changed me mind at least once during the debates - something I normally do not do. I am pleased with the overall results of the debates and discussions and thing we now have a firmer basis for the selection rules and internal elections than ever before.

As West Midlands Training Officer I shall now be working with our Regional Candidates Committee Chair to role out Selection Committee training to the local parties that want to go ahead and select sooner rather than later.
