Third Poll at www.colin-ross.org.uk

9.30.00am GMT Wed 15th Feb 2006

I have now written a third poll on the Leadership of the Liberal Democrats, after the success of the previous two. This poll is aimed at members of the Liberal Democrats to vote in after they fill in their ballot paper.

The first poll, had over 500 votes (before the server crashed) was on who you would like to see as Leader of the Liberal Democrats with a choice of all Liberal Democrat MPs. Sir Menzies Campbell won that but not by much over Simon Hughes, Chris Huhne was third. Charles Kennedy received a respectable number of votes. Interesting Mark Oaten scored very poorly.

The second poll, had 575 votes by yesterday when I replaced it with the new poll. Sir Menzies Campbell won with 247 votes or 43% of the vote, closely followed by Chris Huhne on 232 votes or 40% of the vote, Simon Hughes was in third with 96 votes or 17%.

This poll gives the choices of the 1st and 2nd preferences, which should help us have a better idea of how it is going. I still have not voted, either in the poll or in real life, as I am waiting until after the West Midlands Hustings this Saturday in Coventry - I am fairly sure it will be Sir Menzies 1 and Chris 2 but I hope to ask a question at the hustings which will decide my vote.
