Liberal Democrat Shadow Cabinet finalised

6.00.00pm GMT Wed 8th Mar 2006

Sir Menzies Campbell today completed his Liberal Democrat Shadow Cabinet reshuffle. As well as a number of MPs keeping their position Sir Menzies has taken the opportunity to promote some of the MPs that won for the first time last May into the Shadow Cabinet. Some of the Shadow Cabinet are quite surprising - for example Julia Goldsworthy (mainly because I know so little about her), on balance I think it is a good team although I find the omission of Phil Willis odd (prehaps he will become Chief Whip). The best bit of news is Ed Davey being asked to look at our campaigning - Ed is one of the best (if not the best) campaigner in the Parliamentary Party, he was elected in 1997 (unexpectedly) with a majority of 56 which he turned into a majority of over 15,000 in 2001.
