Selection Committee Training in Warwickshire

This morning I was in Stratford-upon-Avon to train Liberal Democrat members in Warwickshire Selection Committee skills. There were representatives from three constituencies - Stratford and South Warwickshire, Warwick and Leamington and Kenilworth and Southam. You may be aware there are massive boundary changes in Warwickshire with the addition of a new Parliamentary Seat which has result in new 'Shadow' Local Parties being set up - most of which needed Selection Committee Training.

Every Liberal Democrat Local Party needs at least two members to have been on Selection Committee Training before they can advertise for their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate. These three seats can now go ahead with the next stage. I am very pleased that the West Midlands is setting the pace with selections, Ludlow has already selected Matthew Green (this was the first selection in England), Shrewsbury and Worcestershire West have both advertised and some of these Warwickshire seats and one in Staffordshire are on the verge of advertising.

I expect a lot more will advertise after May and I guess I will be holding a couple of Selection Committee Training sessions in May and June - get in touch if your Local Party needs one soon!
