Wolverhampton round-up - bites, leaflets, votes and posters8.10.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 1st May 2006
Well a busy weekend of activity - and more to come today! But we are doing really well in our target wards in Wolverhampton and set to make an upset or two on Thursday. Firstly the good news both of my bites are now almost completely healed - we actually canvassed the house of the first bite at the weekend they took a poster (not sure if that was guilt or not). More good news is the canvassing is looking really good, Labour supporters are very disappointed with the Labour, both nationally and locally and Conservative supporters and unconvinced by Cameron. My body is being to hurt, as are the other helper bodies, we have put out a huge amount of paper and knocked on lots of doors - some of the team have also been shinning up lamp-posts to put up the posters too. It better be worth it! The postal votes have been sent out, mine has been returned but so it seems have most of the others - when we knock on the door of a postal voter most say they have sent it back and voted for us! The postal votes have been sent out by a private company for Wolverhampton Council, I was a bit dubious but despite arriving a bit later than expected everything seems to be in order. Also yesterday there was the Vaisakhi festival in West Park which I managed to find a little bit of time to pop in - it was very well attended and everyone seemed to be having great fun - I didn't manage to make it last year and went to Birmingham's in 2004 - it always seems such good fun and West Park is a great venue for it.
