Regional Campaigns Committee11.03.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 3rd Jul 2006 The West Midlands Liberal Democrat Regional Campaigns Committee met last night, it is made up of myself, Mike Dixon, Start Ritchie, Dave Radcliffe, Phil Bennion and Nicola Davies. The meeting went well, we appointed Stuart as the new Regional Media Co-ordinator, we also mainly discussed Moving Forward. The Moving Forward programme is the scheme that about 25 Parliamentary seats are taking part in. Hopefully some of which will win at the next General Election, most the time after and the remainder the election after that. The scheme was open to all West Midlands seats but to remain in the scheme certain benchmarks have to met and tasks completed as well as a general commitment to moving forward. We reviewed all the seats involved and had to exclude one for not meeting our criteria for remaining in the programme. We also discussed which of the seats we will be nominating to take a step up to Priority Seat status (ie most winnable) to the Deputy Director of Campaigns. I do not plan to list them here as they may not be agreed by the deputy Director and I also do not wish out political opponents to know (I am sure they can guess but why tell them!). The next training event (open to seats not taking part in the scheme too) is the Agents training this coming weekend which should be good, sadly I will have to spend a fair bit of preparation time on it this week though. It was also agreed to set up a West Midlands Activist network to help in by-elections, more on this tomorrow.
