Last night's Regional Campaigns Committee agreed to set up a West Midlands Liberal Democrats Activist Network to help in Local Government by-elections in the West Midlands and Parliamentary by-elections across the UK. Below are more details, but firstly I am offering a prize for a better name - we couldn't think of a better one last night!

We seem to be struggling to get people to help out in Local Government by-elections of recent, don't get me wrong we are getting some help but its the same people. There also seems to be more by-elections at the moment and the current activists are getting very tired. The idea is not new, in fact we had a by-election team back in the mid 1990's which I was a member of.

We will of course send emails to all members we have emails for but we want people to volunteer to join a text-list where we will text them to alert them their help is needed - I would have thought there would be no more than three text's for each by-election, one to say its happening, one to hold a designated action day/weekend and a final reminder a couple of days before polling day to remind people of their last chance to help.

We have seen recently how close we can sometimes come to winning but need that little extra help. If you want to be part of the West Midlands Liberal Democrats Activist Network please comment to this article (see below) giving me you name, local party, email and of course your mobile number.
