I am watching with horror the unfolding crisis in the Middle East - you all know what is going on, so I don't feel the need to repeat all the horrors what are taking place. The real problem is I cannot see how this is all going to end in any peaceful way.

I have just seen Israeli soldiers have 'briefly' entered Lebanon to attack Hizbullah bases. The state of Israel does have a right to protect its borders and its soldiers against Hamas and Hizbullah but the response is way too disproportionate. That is not to Hamaz and Hizbullah are right either - the other Middle East countries have officially kept quiet so far though you have to wonder in Syria and Iran are involved somehow.

I dread to think what will happen next, with Iran still having a stand-off with the US and others and Iraq's Civil War it is looking bad across the whole of the region and I can see British and American (and other) troops becoming far more embroiled and not be able to leave Iraq in the foreseeable future.
