Newbridge Fryer makes it to the area finals of the National Fish and Chip Shop competition

Not technically my local, but close enough (and very good), the Newbridge Fryer on Newbridge Crescent has made it to the area (Black Country and Staffordshire) finals of the National Fish and Chip shop competition area finals for the second year running.

It will be judged on fish and chips, customer service, hygiene and staff training and the results announced in September with the Grand Final taking place in January 2007.

They are very nice chips there, I will have to buy some in the next few days to celebrate their success so far!
