Cameron flip-flops again, this time on Identity Cards

2.44.39pm GMT Wed 16th Aug 2006

Cameron and the Conservatives have flip-flopped again - they are now against Identity Cards. Better late than never I guess they have supported them for the last two years but are now against. This is another example of them catching up with the Liberal Democrats, just days after we launched our Tax Commission results and the accompanying policy paper the Conservatives came up with very similar views. I don't mind as they say imitation is the highest form of flattery.

The latest policy change came as Cameron has launched his blueprint of Conservative values and a taster of policy - though it is still policy-lite today - in a document called 'Built to Last'. You can find it online, I think the BBC has a link to it and assumedly the Conservative website will too.
