Just in case you didn't know today sees a huge shake-up in the way post is costed. The size of the envelope is also taken into consideration as well as weight.

Basically there are three categories:

Letter - Under 100g and within 204x165mm and no thicker than 5mm. Cost will be 32p for First Class and 23p for Second Class.

Large Letter - Under 750g and within 353x250mm and no thicker than 25mm. Cost will range between 44p and £1.31 for first class (weight dependant) and between 37p and £1.09 (again weigh dependant).

Packet - Everything else, cost varies considerably based on weight.

My top tip for the day is you can send upto eight A4 sheets of paper folded in half in a C5 envelope and still be a 'Letter'.
