Elections everywhere10.21.47am GMT Wed 27th Sep 2006
It is that time of year again when the Liberal Democrats have lots of internal party elections. In fact some elections have already happened, this year I have stood down (or am in the process) from two bodies I sat on and have re-stood for three others, I will also be standing down from a third when their AGM comes around. In 2006 I have been on the ELDR Council, English Council, Training Officer of the West Midlands Liberal Democrats, Membership Secretary of Wolverhampton Liberal Democrats, Vice-President of the Liberal Democrat Youth and Students and Vice-Chair of the Agents and Organisers Association. At Federal Conference I stood down from the Agents Executive after a number of years on it, I am not re-standing for the Youth and Students and will not be re-standing for the Wolverhampton Liberal Democrat Executive. I still hope to be active and help those organisations but do not feel I need to be on the Executive to do that. The deadline for the West Midlands Executive, committees and English Council were yesterday - I will hopefully bring news of them later. I have been told I was uncontested for Vice Chair of the Region and that there will also not be an election for English Council Representatives. The deadline for nominations in Federal elections, including ELDR Council is at 12 noon today, again when I know who is standing I will put the list on the website. The Federal Elections are always fun and this years will be more so as many of the Committees are being elected for 2-year terms, we also have the election to the Peers Panel and in theory President too.
