Two Wolverhampton Conservative Councillors far from outstanding says former local party Chair10.02.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 1st Oct 2006
As the Conservative Party Conference starts this weekend it has come to light that the former Chair of Wolverhampton South West Conservative Party has slammed a number of local Wolverhampton Conservative Councillors on popular Conservative website www.conservativehome.blogs.com Jonathan M Scott the former Chair of Wolverhampton South West Conservatives writing on about parliamentary selections said the following "Similarly, there are many Associations who will ensure that 'local' candidates are selected. Watch carefully Wolverhampton S.W., for example, which I was until recently Chairman, in which there are at least two local councillors vying for the nomination - and in their case they are far from outstanding! This is an Association which, by the way, selected the superb Mrs Sandip Verma the last time and sadly in which there is now a faction that wants "a white candidate this time" (remember Bradford West in 2005?)." Not only does Jonathan Scott launch an attack on two Wolverhampton Conservative Councillors for being far from outstanding, he also suggests there is a racist element in the Conservative Party in Wolverhampton. Even though Wolverhampton South West was represented by the Conservatives by Enoch Powell I had hoped that the Wolverhampton Conservatives had moved on - I know the rest of Wolverhampton has. By the way if anyone knows which two Wolverhampton Conservative candidates are being referred to please feel free to let me know!
