Equalities and Diversity Training

6.04.00pm GMT Tue 3rd Oct 2006

I have spent most of today being training in Equalities and Diversity at work. Basically I was told the Service Area had to attend so we could tick a box and get some official recognition for it. As a result I was expecting the training to be very box-ticking in what it covered, however I was very pleasantly surprised - it was probably the best Equalities and Diversity Training I have ever seen (and I have seen quite a lot!)

Equalities and Diversity Training can be very dry and boring but the trainer made it very interesting and used some very good exercises, which I will no doubt nick for Liberal Democrat training. I suspect I did not learn anything new but expect the other participants did. The training focused more on people understanding their own prejudices and how they can be tempered by understand differences between people rather than just what the law says.
