Tesco's rules Britain, but not Wolverhampton

Figures out today tell us that Tesco is dominant in 81 of Britain's 121 postcode areas (up from 67 last year) and second in 24 more. Wolverhampton is bucking this trend with Tesco having just a 5% share.

Sadly I suspect the low share in Wolverhampton is not because the good folk of Wolverhampton shop at independent or small local shops but the rather poor Tesco in Wolverhampton. We just has one Tesco, one of the Metro stores and it is in the Mander Centre, I don't shop there and don't know anyone else who does - it has limited opening hours and limited products. However I hear they may be opening a new store so suspect they will increase their share rapidly.

In other news I am about, finally, to take a weekly organic vegetable bag - sourced locally. Its been a long time coming, over the last six months or so I seem to have been away more than I have been at home, but I look forward to eating better food that has also been better to our environment.
