Dr. Jonathan Scott, the former Chair and Treasurer of Wolverhampton South West Conservatives has contacted me as a result of my postings on the Wolverhampton South West Conservatives and the Midlands Industrial Council. I have checked that he is happy to have his comments placed on this site and they are below:

Dr. Jonathan Scott wrote:

As former chairman of Wolverhampton SW Conservative & Unionist Association after the election and its Treasurer and a campaigner before and during the election, I can assure you that we were unaware of who the members of the MIC were. Our ability to campaign was therefore not affected - the MIC does not influence the type of campaign or line on any of the issues campaigned on. It donates money to target seats in order to ensure that Conservative MPs are elected.

I would like to thank Dr. Scott for contacting me and I am happy with his assurances. However it does confirm that Wolverhampton South West Conservatives took money from a group of individuals they did not know the identity of.
