Well that's what MP's seem to want. I guess that may be uncharitable, but last night Tony Blair and the Government narrowly survived a Commons vote to force an immediate parliamentary inquiry by 25 votes. The Guardian and BBC have conflicting reports of who voted which way. Hansard is now available and lists the result as follows: The Ayes won by 294 to 264 (majority 30) with 4 tellers, making a turnout of 562 293 Labour members voted for the motion and 8 against 180 Conservative members voted against 60 Liberal Democrat members voted against 6 Democratic Unionists members voted against 5 SNP members voted against 2 Plaid members voted against 1 RESPECT member voted against 1 Ulster Unionist voted against Both Dr. Richard Taylor and Clare Short voted against All parties with the exception of the SNP, RESPECT and the Ulster Unionists had members that did not vote. The eight Labour rebels were: Harry Cohen - Leyton and Wanstead Jeremy Corbyn - Islington North Roger Godsiff - Birmingham Sparkbrook and Small Heath Glenda Jackson - Hampstead and Highgate John McDonnell - Hayes and Harlington Gavin Strang - Edinburgh East Robert Wareing - Liverpool West Derby Mike Wood - Batley and Spen The three Wolverhampton Labour MPs supported the Government and voted against an Inquiry.
