Birmingham City Council Firework Spectacular

Yesterday I attended the Birmingham City Council Fireworks Spectacular with Councillor Dave Radcliffe. They certainly lived up to their name. There were three shows in total, I could only stay for two but around 20,000 people would have seen some of the shows.

I am all for public displays and increasingly against private displays, not just on environmental grounds (fireworks are very polluting) and health grounds (how many people get hurt each year) but the fact that as soon as fireworks are on sale they are let off causing annoyance and distress to many - perhaps I am just becoming a killjoy in my thirties...
