Training, more training and the Departed10.08.00pm GMT Sun 12th Nov 2006 This weekend has been a bit of a training fest. On Saturday and Sunday I attended PagePlus training in Birmingham, I trained some Liberal Democrats in Selection Committee Training. I also managed to fit in a Campaigns Committee meeting, an excellent curry and a trip to the Cinema to see Departed. I organised the PagePlus training, but rather than train it I was a trainee! Duncan Borrowman, the Liberal Democrats National Campaigns Officer (and friend of mine) came up to Birmingham and trained about a dozen of us in PagePlus. PagePlus is the Party's new standard DTP software. I bought it a while ago but had not played with it - some bits of PageMaker seem better, or more easy to use, but I guess that is because I am used to it, PagePlus certainly has a number of advantages though and I look forward to using it. Obviously on both Saturday and Sunday we observed a silence to remember those fallen in past and current conflicts. On Saturday I also trained a number of Birmingham Liberal Democrats in Selection Committee training, I have another to do in December but think they are then done for a while - it feels as though we have trained enough people for all the selections a lot earlier in the electoral cycle this time, which has to be good news. The other highlights of the weekend was a curry after the training on Saturday with some of those that were trained and some others that joined us and on Sunday I went to see Departed with Caroline which I would certainly recommend.
