Stoke-on-Trent Liberal Democrats AGM and IGM

8.09.00am GMT Thu 23rd Nov 2006

Last night Stuart Ritchie and I attended the Stoke-on-Trent AGM and IGM, it was well attended and I ended up taking on the role of Returning Officer as there were contested elections for Chair and Vice Chair and also for the Executive Committee (by STV of course) and some of the local government selections.

There was also an interesting moment where I thought it was possible that they would agree to wind up the current local party but not inaugurate a new one - fortunately it all passed ok! Stoke-on-Trent will lose one branch to Staffordshire Moorlands at the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve but will gain most of another branch, there are also slight changes in the Parliamentary boundaries between Stoke South and Stoke Central.
