Highfields School visit

7.31.02pm GMT Tue 5th Dec 2006

I visited Highfields school again today. I have been there several times this term to talk to pupils about the importance of politics both locally and nationally. Over the last few weeks the pupils have been able to bring up problems they see in Wolverhampton - unsurprisingly crime came top, followed by lack of youth provision - nationally and internationally the War in Iraq and the environment were also concerns.

Yesterday's Express and Star reported that Highfields School was the least well funded (per pupil) Secondary School in Wolverhampton, with about £1,000 less than the best funded. Highfields is in desperate need of more money with many of the buildings in need of repair. I will be lobbying hard to see if I can find any additional sources of money for the school.
