Aston Hall by candlelight

10.35.47am GMT Fri 8th Dec 2006

Yesterday evening I saw Aston Hall by Candlelight. Aston Hall is unsurprisingly in Aston in Birmingham, it has a great history - some of which we were told about last night such as the Watt's living there and it being used in the Civil War. The Hall is lit only by candles so you can experience what life in the 17th Century would have been like.

I would like to thank my friend Councillor Ray Hassall who invited me. It turned into a bit of a Lib Dem fest, there were lots of the Birmingham City Councillors there - a number of whom told me off for using the word 'tosser' recently in one of my posts on Tory debt - not because they objected to the word (or disagreed) but apparently Birmingham City Council's website wouldn't let them view the story and they thought they were missing out on something!
