Selection News - Birmingham Hodge Hill9.00.00pm GMT Sat 9th Dec 2006
Councillor Tariq Khan has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Birmingham Hodge Hill at the next General Election. Tariq is currently one of the Councillors for Washwood Heath Ward, and former Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Birmingham City Council. Tariq works in the pharmaceutical industry. Tariq, like myself, attended the University of Wolverhampton. At the May 2005 General Election Birmingham Hodge Hill saw a massive swing from Labour of 18.3%, and should be regarded as one of the seats the Liberal Democrats should pick up from Labour at the next election, particularly as the boundary changes are favourable to the Liberal Democrats. The seat is participating in the West Midlands Liberal Democrats Moving Forward Programme.
