More Tory Troubles

9.37.00am GMT Sun 10th Dec 2006

To celebrate David Cameron's first year anniversary the Tories seem to have gone mad over candidates. The last week of so have seen three - yes three - Conservative Candidates resign or be removed.

Chester Conservative Candidates Paul Offer resigned. Mr Offer said yesterday he had witnessed sexist bullying and racist comments within the association, and accused an official of making offensive remarks about disabled children.

Plymouth Sutton and Davenport Conservatives held an Open Primary where Councillor Patrick Nicholson was selected but the local party Executive have refused to endorse him!

Westmorland and Lonsdale's Conservative candidate Richard Bell resigned last week because of rows with activists. This has resulted in eleven Tory officials resigned after the national party interfered - it appears he was asked to sign a resignation letter presented to him by the neighbouring MP David Maclean.

There are many other seats that I am hearing are having selection issues.
