Saddam hangs - but why today?

Bush and Blair must answer to the electorate for their policies in Iraq

Bush and Blair must answer to the electorate for their policies in Iraq

At Dawn this morning, Iraqi time, Saddam was hung. I don't think he should have been killed - I don't believe in the death penalty at all, and believe in this case Saddam will become a Martyr. However I accept that Iraq, and the US, have the death penalty what I really object to is why today - why on Eid?

I am convinced the whole trial and now the death was not all done by accident, but at the behest of the George Bush and the US Government. First the verdict was timed just before the US mid-terms which could have been designed to try and help the Republicans (not that it worked) and now the death itself works very well for the American news-cycle and sends a message, by it happening on Eid, to all Muslims everywhere that the Americans will have their way whatever. Now some will say it was the Iraqi Government that decided on the timetable, well I am sure they put pen to paper but I am also sure it was only after talking to the White House.
