Conservative lose another Council

1.27.04pm GMT Mon 8th Jan 2007

Towards the end of 2006 the Conservatives lost control of four Councils, now they have lost another! This time it is Erewash Borough.

In the last couple of weeks they have had two councillors resign and sit as Independents - they were Councillor Robert Dockerill and Councillor Gerry Hartopp. The Conservatives now have 25 seats, Labour has 21, the Liberal Democrats have 2 and there are now 3 Independent councillors.

The other Councils the Conservatives lost recently were Crawley, Dover, Gosport and the Vale and Glamorgan.
