Rest in Peace Marjorie Brown

8.00.00am GMT Wed 10th Jan 2007

Today will see the funeral of Mrs. Marjorie Brown is, she sadly passed away on Boxing Day. Marj was a stalwart of Hereford Liberal Democrats, my thoughts are of her today.

I first met Marj in 1995, when I started helping in Hereford. I am convinced without Marj Hereford Liberal Democrats would never have had the success they had on the local councils and that she was crucial to Paul Keetch winning in 1997 and holding the seat in 2001 and 2005.

Hereford Liberal Democrat Chair Polly Andrews has said in the most recent members newsletter "All the current Liberal Democrat Councillors and MP Paul Keetch owe a great deal to Marj's persistence and determination. How many of us stood for election because Marj would not take 'no' for an answer? We will miss her greatly."

Local Hereford MP Paul Keetch said "Marj never sought glory or success for herself but only for the Party she loved. We will miss her."

Marj, we are all thinking of you today.
