Selection Committee Training in Wyre Forest

10.44.46am GMT Thu 25th Jan 2007

Last night I went to Kidderminster to train Wyre Forest Liberal Democrats on Selection Committee skills. All local Liberal Democrat parties have to have at least two people having been trained in Selection Committee skills prior to placing an advert for a Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate.

Wyre Forest is a very interesting constituency, currently represented by Dr. Richard Taylor of Kidderminster Hospital Health Concern. Dr. Taylor has a majority of 5,250 votes over the Conservatives, in 2001 (when he first won) he had a majority of 17,630 votes over the Labour Party. The Liberal Democrats did not stand in either the 2001 or the 2005 General Election and instead supported Dr. Taylor.

Next time Dr. Taylor will not be standing and the Liberal Democrats will re-enter the fray, it remains to be seen where Dr. Taylor's votes go to but be prepared for anything!
