West Midlands Moving Forward
11.37.00pm GMT Sat 10th Feb 2007
Earlier today we held the first Moving Forward day of 2007. Despite the poor weather the attendance was good, we held it at the Hill Close Garden centre (more about that in another post) in Warwick. Although virtually all of the trainers and most of participants had had flu recently (or in my case still have!) the day went well.
We covered getting the most from literature, mainly encouraging local parties to try different types of literature, making the most of election week and the postal vote campaign. We of course held the normal 1-2-1's to check on progress.
The whole project is just over a year old and I can already see local parties stepping up their game and am very excited about the future in these seats, and ultimately all the West Midland seats if we can engage them in the process after the next General Election.
Ed Davey MP also attended part of the Moving Forward Day and gave the participants a briefing on the national picture and our plans - obviously I am not going to write those here.
After the Moving Forward Day Warwick and Leamington Liberal Democrats hosted a Question Time event which Ed and I both took part in - I'll report on that tomorrow.
